Vienna 5K means pure emotion and "movement for all".
Running, walking, strolling, with a wheelchair or pushchair. Everyone is welcome at this 5K event on the weekend of the Vienna City Marathon. Beginners and pros, young and old start on Saturday, 20 April at 18:15 in front of the university. The impressive finish line is at the Burgtheater. After a successful lap of the ring, everyone will receive their well-deserved medal.
"The Vienna 5K is a competition for everyone who likes to exercise. Running or walking 5 kilometres is ideal for newcomers and returning runners. Together with many participants, this competition offers a great incentive to be active on a fantastic route," says VCM Managing Director Kathrin Widu. Anyone who can complete 5 kilometres within an hour can take part.
EXTRA BONUS: Members of the City of the "Vorteilsclub der Stadt Wien" (Vienna Benefits Club) receive a 20 per cent discount on registration, valid for adults on the full price of the Vienna 5K. Note: Offer is in German language only. Everyone living on Austria can join the club for free.
The 5K course is officially measured (AIMS) and the event is part of the World Athletics Global Calendar. If you want to run fast and break your personal best, this is the best place to do it.
If, on the other hand, you don't want to be timed at all, you can simply choose the "You did it!" classification. Without minutes, seconds and placings, but with all the more joy of being there. The official start number is used to determine who has covered the full 5 km distance.
A rousing opening to the Vienna City Marathon weekend
A positive and motivating atmosphere on the course and at the finish area of the Vienna City Marathon on Rathausplatz is guaranteed. The Daily Mile 800 and 1600 children's races and the Coca-Cola Inclusion Run also take place on the same afternoon. Vienna is on its feet and celebrating movement.
At the Vienna 5K, nobody comes last or last. The final runners and walkers come at the very end. They accompany and motivate the participants at the back of the field and run or walk with them to the finish line. Chapeau! Let's hear it! And great pride.
