Running brings people together and can make a positive difference at the same time!
Through a portion of the entry fees from the Vienna 5K and additional donations collected during the Vienna City Marathon 2026, we were able to support the WWF Austria with €10,029.38.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to this fantastic result!
The donated funds will go toward protecting the natural floodplain forests of the March-Thaya wetlands - a unique wilderness area in eastern Austria.
A Unique Natural Wilderness in Eastern Austria
White-tailed eagles and Konik horses, ancient forests and floodplain landscapes, storks and red kites, oyster mushrooms, giant trees, and open meadows: together with experts from WWF Austria, the VCM team visited the WWF floodplain reserve in Marchegg to gain first-hand insight into this remarkable project and the valuable conservation work being carried out on site.
Supporting the Protection and Expansion of the Reserve
The March-Thaya wetlands are among Austria’s most important river landscapes. As the largest unfragmented river ecosystem in Central Europe, they are a biodiversity hotspot and a precious habitat that deserves protection.
We are delighted to contribute to the preservation and expansion of this unique natural area and, in doing so, help safeguard the foundations of our future.
