Music and running united in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Wien: the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna City Marathon invite you to a concert for the marathon on the day before the 42.195 km run. Runners of the VCM 2026 can apply to actively participate in the concert and be part of this unforgettable concert experience.
Under the direction of conductor and marathon runner Tobias Wögerer, a varied programme will be presented in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Wien. Vienna Symphony Orchestra & runners united in one orchestra!
The Vienna Symphony Orchestra is looking for
the following instruments for the marathon concert on Saturday, 18 April 2026 in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein:
Violin, viola, violoncello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone and percussion.

• A link (YouTube or similar) to a representative instrumental video (approx. 2–5 minutes) that clearly shows the level at which you play your instrument
• Confirmation of registration for the Vienna City Marathon.

Prerequisites for playing in the marathon concert are active participation in the Vienna City Marathon 2026 and mastery of your own instrument at a high level. To apply, please submit a video recording of a piece of your choice with very good sound quality.
Participation in the concert includes two rehearsals on Friday, 17 April 2026!
In recognition of their commitment, the selected musicians will receive a refund of the entry fee from the Vienna City Marathon.
One accompanying person per musician is invited to the concert free of charge!
The registration period runs until 31.12.2025
