The Wiener Symphoniker will perform the Concert for the Marathon on Saturday, 18 April 2026, the day before the 42.195 km run.

Programme - The Concert for the Marathon
Conductor and marathon runner Tobias Wögerer has put together a rousing programme and will be directing the concert.

The Wiener Symphoniker and VCM participants will join forces to form a unique orchestra for the concert. For this joint performance, we are looking for runners who play one of the following instruments:
Violin, viola, violoncello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone and percussion.

Please include the following with your application:
• A link (YouTube or similar) to a representative instrumental video (approx. 2–5 minutes) that clearly shows the level at which you play your instrument
• Confirmation of registration for the Vienna City Marathon.
Please indicate in the subject line of the e-mail which instrument you are applying for: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, or Percussion
Prerequisites for playing in the marathon concert are active participation in the Vienna City Marathon 2026 and mastery of your own instrument at a high level. To apply, please submit a video recording of a piece of your choice with very good sound quality.
Participation in the concert includes two rehearsals on Friday, 17 April 2026!
In recognition of their commitment, the selected musicians will receive a refund of the entry fee from the Vienna City Marathon.
One accompanying person per musician is invited to the concert free of charge!
