For all runners who are already registered for the marathon or Wiener Städtische half marathon at the VCM 2025, we are therefore again offering a limited number of free starts at running events in several Austrian regions. Up-to-date information will follow on this page.

Ganghoferlauf
There are no running events in winter, right? Not quite! The Ganghoferlauf in Leutasch invites professionals and hobby athletes to test their endurance on two skis.
Admittedly, running shoes and cross-country skiing boots are not the same, but the joy of movement remains. Austria’s largest and most popular public race attracts a large audience to Tyrol's high plateau every year. In 2026, you can take part – and for free!

LINZ DONAUTRAIL
The Sparkasse OÖ Linz24 Donautrail is a spring outdoor event without competitive character. Discover the most attractive trails and spots of the Upper Austrian capital. Along the way, you’ll get to know Linz from its most beautiful sides. Start & finish are located on Landstraße.
Distances: 22 km, 700 meters elevation gain | 35 km, 1250 meters elevation gain

VULKANLAND SPRING RUN
The Vulkanland Run in Leitersdorf im Raabtal, in the Styrian Thermal & Volcano Region, offers a colorful palette of competitions: from children's runs to a 4.2 km hobby run, an 8.4 km public run, and even a half marathon. The “Styrian Running Opening” is an atmospheric running event with timing for runners and walkers.

Ganghofertrail
The Ganghofertrail leads through one of Tyrol’s most impressive landscapes. At around 1,100 meters above sea level, runners can expect a sunny high valley, fresh mountain air, and perfectly maintained natural trails. The course runs over wide forest and meadow paths and offers a running experience that appeals to both beginners and ambitious athletes.
You can choose between three distances:
- Public Run 7.4 km
- Enjoyment Run 14.4 km
- “Leutasch Half Marathon” 21.8 km
All competitions are technically easy, with moderate elevation profiles and a route through an open, wide valley – ideal for finding your rhythm and enjoying the natural scenery.

WIEN RUNDUMADUM
Take part in this adventure run on the beautiful "Wien Rundumadum" hiking trail. We had starting places available for the 61 km relay event. A team consists of 2–4 people.

JEDERMANNLAUF SALZBURG
Flat, fast, masterful – a running festival in the beautiful Mozart city of Salzburg! Combine city atmosphere with nature while running along the Salzach. The course is AIMS-certified and offers personal best potential for the 10 km and 5 km distances, or 1.5 km at the Youth Challenger. The classic event for “everyone” for 40 years!
Start & finish are located in the centrally located Volksgarten.

SPARKASSE 3-COUNTRY MARATHON
Three countries, picturesque lakeside views, impressive mountains, one shared goal. At the Sparkasse 3-Country Marathon, there is a suitable distance for everyone.
The marathon course leads from the harbor of the historic island town of Lindau in Germany along Lake Constance to Austria, where the route includes the special highlight of running through the Bregenz lake stage. A loop through Switzerland brings a “Grüezi” in St. Margrethen. The finish for all competitions is in the stadium of Bregenz.

ALOHA WINTER RUN SERIES LINZ
The ALOHA Winter Run Series in Linz keeps you fit throughout the winter months. The start is located directly at the Lentos Museum. The route leads along the Donau promenade, passing landmarks such as the Linz Brucknerhaus and the cultural mile.
