Concert for the Marathon


Play with the Wiener Symphoniker at the Musikverein!

The ‘Concert for the Marathon’ combines running and classical music in Vienna in a truly unique way. Are you taking part in a race as part of the Vienna City Marathon and do you play one of these instruments to a high standard? Then apply to take part as a musician in the ‘Concert for the Marathon’.
Wiener Symphoniker & VCM participants We are looking for runners who play one of the following instruments:
violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, harp and percussion
Upload a high-quality video of yourself playing your instrument here, clearly demonstrating your level of proficiency.
Application deadline: 2026.11.22
The Wiener Symphoniker will decide on the allocation of places. Where musical quality is equal, preference will be given to runners who have not already performed at the 2026 concert, as well as to participants competing in the marathon or half-marathon.
Participation in the concert includes two rehearsals at the Vienna Musikverein on Friday, 16 April 2027.
In recognition of their commitment, the selected musicians will have their Vienna City Marathon entry fee refunded.
One accompanying person per musician is invited to the concert free of charge.
