The adidas Runners Vienna Night Mile thrilled the running community in Vienna on Saturday evening, September 2. With the start at 8 pm, Mariahilfer Straße briefly became an inspiring running zone.
Marathon runner and Olympic participant Andreas Vojta in 4:13.1 minutes and Esther Hummel in 5:05.6 minutes were the fastest over the nearly 1.6 kilometre long course. The start was in the Kaiserstraße area, the finish at the Platz der Menschenrechte near the Museumsquartier.

Toby Neal, VCM ambassador for the USA, in 4:31.5 minutes and Steffen Lang in 4:32.9 took second and third place. Likewise Ronja Inderfurth in 5:17.4 and Jennifer Schwab in 5:20.5 in the women's category.

Late summer night & motivation boost
"It was a fun event and a great opportunity for the running community to get together," said Vojta, who will compete in the Copenhagen Half Marathon in a fortnight and is preparing for an autumn marathon.
The preparations for the start and finish in Mariahilfer Strasse and near the Museumsquartier alone generated a lot of interest among passers-by.
The focus was on the chance to run in a great location on a great late summer evening and to be together with other runners.
All participants received a race shirt from adidas made of 100% recycled polyester and a finisher's medal. At the after party in the O-Klub, the running enthusiasts celebrated the successful premiere.
The event was a great kick for running motivation and upcoming races like the VCM Tribute to Eliud. Especially now, when the really hot days will soon be over and more pleasant conditions for running are on the horizon.

The event was an initiative of adidas Runners Vienna and was organised by the VCM Group. The long-standing cooperation between adidas and the Vienna City Marathon thus receives a further boost.
