On the third anniversary of the legendary race, the Vienna City Marathon Team organises this thrilling event.
VCM Tribute to Eliud
• Wednesday, 12 October 2022
• Start 6pm, Prater Hauptallee
• Run as far as you can in 1:59:40.2 hours
• Alone or in a team of 2 runners

Entry fee 26,- Euro for single runners and teams.
This means only 13,- Euro per participant of a team.
Two hours of motivation
Look forward to the great atmosphere in the Prater Hauptallee. You will run on a 2 km shuttle course and will always be surrounded by other runners and fans. At the starting point, which you will pass every two kilometres, you will see and hear the original video of Eliud Kipchoge's run. Goosebumps!
Feel the joy of running, start your VCM preparation
Take the VCM Tribute to Eliud as an opportunity to start your preparation for the 40th Vienna City Marathon on 23 April 2023. Whether marathon, half marathon or relay: let yourself be inspired. Set yourself a goal. We want to spread the joy of running with our events - there is an infinite amount of it. When you run, you feel and produce it with every step. Running is simply good for you in every way.
How the 2-person team works
If two hours of running is too much for you or doesn't fit into your plans, split the challenge and do it in a team of two. Find a friend for a relay. You can take shifts as you like. Who runs which distances and how often you change is entirely up to you.
Each team receives a start number with an RFID chip and a start number band. The start number must be handed over each time.
Free start opportunity for those registered for the VCM 2023 *
Bonus for VCM participants: If you are already registered for the 40th VCM 2023 (marathon or half marathon), you have the opportunity to participate in the VCM Tribute to Eliud for free. We will reserve a contingent of free starting places.
Just write to office@vienna-marathon.com and tell us in it that you want to start at the VCM Tribute to Eliud. The free starts will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis until the quota is used up.
The same model will be used for the other preparation races in winter 2022/23. You can take advantage of one (1) free entry in preparation for the VCM 2023.
VCM Tribute to Eliud – Facts
• 2 km shuttle course in the Prater Hauptallee
• Timing with chip in the start number
• Split times / measuring points every 500 metres
• The distance run will be determined by interpolation of the last measured split times

The race of the Olympic champion and world record holder thrilled an audience of millions, and it still does today. The Prater Hauptallee, our running paradise, is now part of World Athletics Heritage.
The start of the "VCM Tribute to Eliud" is at Eliud Kipchoge's "1:59 finish" on the Prater Hauptallee, near the junction of Meiereistrasse, where the World Athletics Heritage Plaque is located.

We are planning to hold running events in autumn and winter 2022/23 with different distances in Vienna. As soon as the further dates and the exact programme are fixed, we will inform you. For each event we reserve a contingent for registered VCM participants to start for free. If you are interested, you will receive a personal registration code for a race of your choice. If the reserved places are already used up, if legal restrictions on participation are in force or if races have to be cancelled, there will be no refund. No payment of the entry fee or offsetting with the VCM registration.
