The playlist was compiled by running enthusiast Heinrich Bruckner. He is a trumpet player and former principal trumpeter of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. He has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras, is a member of numerous chamber music organisations and has taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Numerous recordings document his artistic career.

Running is his passion. As a multiple participant in the VCM, he knows about the special atmosphere that characterises this event in the heart of the cosmopolitan and imperial city of Vienna. The music he has selected picks up on this special Viennese atmosphere and transfers it acoustically to the running course and the fans. The playlist has been carefully curated and covers a wide range of the work of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and its ensembles. With the Symphonic Mile, the VCM and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra want to bring the close connection between music and sport closer to the participants of the VCM and its audience and give the residents and guests of the cultural and running capital of Vienna an unforgettable experience.
