3rd VCM Winter Run
To optimally prepare you for the 43rd Vienna City Marathon on April 19, 2026, we are organizing several running events in Vienna: the VCM Winter Running Series. These events are a perfect opportunity to meet friends, strengthen your motivation and give your fitness a boost.
At the event on March 8 we run the "Vienna Calling Half Marathon" starting on the Reichsbrücke as well as a Mile, 5 km and 10 km in the Prater Hauptallee. We look forward to seeing you!
Free Start Draw
We want to "reward" long-term registration & preparation for the Vienna City Marathon. Therefore, among all "VCM Winter Runners" who are registered for the 3rd VCM Winter Run by February 16, we raffle off 100 free starting places. The winners will receive a refund of their winter run entry fee.
The VCM Winter Running Series is a proud partner of Erste Bank Sparkasse Running.
All VCM Winter Runs are officially AIMS-measured and part of the World Athletics Global Calendar.

Members of the “Vorteilsclub der Stadt Wien” (City of Vienna Benefits Club) receive a 20% discount on the entry fee, as long as starting places are available, until the Wednesday before the race at the latest. Valid for one online registration. No discount on children's and youth rates. The discount link is only visible to logged-in members. The discount cannot be redeemed retroactively on existing registrations.

Pick up your number on Friday or Saturday - especially as a half marathon runner! You can also pick up the number for another person. This way you avoid long queues on race day in the morning. Plus there's a 20% discount promotion at the Hervis Store for VCM Winter Run participants.

Use this option only in exceptional cases. The distribution on Sunday takes place outdoors regardless of weather conditions. Expect waiting times.
Last-Minute Bib Collection Mile, 5 km & 10 km

At the Rugby Union Donau Wien facility right at the start/finish area
Net timing with RFID chip in the bib number. You cannot use your own chip and don't need to rent a chip either.
Half Marathon Start Area
The start takes place on the Reichsbrücke - directly above the Donauinsel.
The start area on the Reichsbrücke is accessible by public transport via subway U1, station "Donauinsel" (exit "Donauinsel"), on foot or by bike via the walkway/bike path below the Reichsbrücke.
Access to the Reichsbrücke is via the south ramp from the Donauinsel. There is no car access and no stopping or parking possibilities on the Donauinsel and/or the Reichsbrücke south ramp. Please plan enough time for your journey to the start.
Bag Storage & Transport with BigBus
Opportunity to drop off a clothing bag in a BigBus at the start. Two buses are ready on the Reichsbrücke. After the start they drive to the finish area and will be positioned there in Meiereistraße at the entrance to the Rugby Club. Bag pickup until 11:30 AM. No liability for loss or theft.
The finish of the half marathon is exactly where start & finish of the mile as well as the 5 km and 10 km run are located.
Half marathon runners can therefore also use the Rugby Union facilities.

- We are again using the great facilities of Rugby Union Donau Wien as home base for the VCM Winter Run.
- The entrance is located at Meiereistraße 20, 1020 Vienna, right by the Hauptallee and the Stadionbad parking lot.
- Last-minute bib collection on Sunday, medals, finish refreshments, awards ceremony and great atmosphere after the run: Everything in one place!
- Changing rooms & showers are available for you there.
- The changing rooms are unlocked and there are no lockers. No liability for loss or theft. Leave valuables at home.
- Start & Finish are located just like at the 1st and 2nd VCM Winter Run on Prater Hauptallee, moved a bit towards the Ferris wheel to the other side of the intersection area.

Order: for participants in the Mile, 5 km and 10 km events until registration deadline of the respective event together with registration or via link in your registration confirmation.
The VCM Winter Run Medal is a great keepsake for your run. It is a three-dimensional snowflake and consists of two interlocking wooden parts with ribbon. The VCM Winter Run Medal is made in Lower Austria and produced from regional wood. This way we offer a resource-saving and sustainable keepsake.
Important: There are no additional orders on site! If you participate in the mile, 5 km and 10 km events and want to receive a medal, you must pre-order it. For finishers of the Vienna Calling Half Marathon, the medal in a special design is included in the entry fee.
The top 3 in the overall ranking of each race will receive their VCM Winter Run Medal regardless of an order at the awards ceremony.
