Already more than 17,000 registrations for the Vienna City Marathon 2014!
Huge demand for starting places, at level with the jubilee edition!
Registration for the Vienna City Marathon 2014 is in full swing. More than 17,000 runners have already secured their participation. Interest in Austria’s leading running event is at level with the 30th edition of the race that has been celebrated this year in April. At this highly attractive occasion each of the running events was sold out as early as never before. There will be no difference at the 2014 edition!
As most of the big city marathons have been run, many runners decide about their goals for the spring season. Therefore we advise all runners who think about running in Vienna to register soon in order not to suffer a surprise at a later stage.
International trends, but more scope in Vienna
The trend in Vienna is very similar as at many big international marathons. Runners register much earlier than in previous years to get one of the limited and sought-after starting places. However, there is still more scope in Vienna than at marathons in Berlin, London or New York. “We don’t aim to fill up the starting places within a few days. Our system is more supportive for runners who are able to assess their decision and their chances for training. But four to five months ahead of the race the places will be ‘sold out’ in Vienna as well”, says race director Wolfgang Konrad. A lead time like this is very appropriate for organisational preparations that have to be made to meet the demands of such a huge running field. At the Vienna City Marathon 2013 a record number of 41,326 runners has entered one the races.
